Mike Kirk obtained an Honours Degree in Town & Country Planning from the University of Manchester, and worked as a Chartered Town Planner for a District Council in East Anglia, the London Borough of Camden, and City of Westminster before becoming a housing specialist with Hackney Council. At Hackney he managed several local teams focusing on regenerating run-down neighbourhoods before he became the chief “enabling” officer for the Council spearheading a range of Borough-wide initiatives. He then worked for a number of RSLs, including Hyde and the Home Group, promoting a number of cutting edge initiatives linking these RSLs with European partners, before setting up his own business in 2009.
Outside the field of planning and housing Mike has maintained a strong personal interest in civic matters. He served two terms as a local elected representative for a London Borough chairing both its housing and planning committees; served on the Boards of three RSLs and an ALMO; and demonstrates an interest across professional boundaries by being a member of the RIBA Housing Committee.
