Mike offers an interim management as well as a project management service.

This can be for one day or for one year (or longer)!

As Mike Kirk Consulting is a Company limited by guarantee, and covered by full public liability and personal indemnity cover, there are no hidden extras for the client.

Within the M25 area the day rate includes travel costs so that, other than exceptional items (which will be agreed with the client at the outset), the price quoted is the inclusive price for the job.

The price charged for interim management will vary according to the length and complexity of the job, but it will be very competitive.

Mike has delivered successful bids for funding and securing development opportunities for a large number of Local Authorities and RSLs, from the HCA (and prior to that The Housing Corporation, and English Partnerships); the NHS Health Trusts; Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders; Government; and European Social Fund.

Mike has also successfully managed projects from inception to completion within time and on budget. Two major achievements include setting up and managing the £100 million Hackney Housing Partnership in 1992, which secured the Council the largest single grant allocation in the country in 1993. For Hyde Housing Association he initiated the regeneration of Bermondsey Spa in London, which in 2009 is still Hyde’s largest project for new homes( See Projects).

Mike has over 25 years experience managing departments with large budgets and leading mult-disciplinary teams of professionals in both local authorities and RSLs. By providing leadership and personal motivation, teams and departments under his managerment have out-performed their objectives and derived outstanding success for their organisations.

He is an accomplished communicator and public speaker and has addressed a large number of public and private seminars and conferences on a range of housing and planning issues.

Mike has a special interest in innovation and sustainability as well as a strong personal commitment to quality both in terms of design as well as in the services he offers.

He led work on developing the ground breaking “IKEA” house for the Home Group in association with BoKlok AB (“Smart Living”) of Sweden. He initiated the first IKEA development project in the country in Gateshead which achieved a rating of Eco Homes Excellent.

Working with award winning architects PCKO, Mike initiated and led on the highly publicised “Buma” modular apartment block for Hyde which broke all records in terms of using modern methods of construction to build quality, highly insulated homes in a very short period of time. Designed in the UK, they were built in Poland and shipped semi-completed to sites in south-east London and erected in just four days!

Also for Hyde he led a winning submission for John Prescott’s £60k house competition at Horn’s Cross Dartford. Now completed, the scheme was a finalist in this year’s Housing Design Awards 2009.

He has project managed multi-million regeneration projects in Deptford, Lewisham and in Bermondsey, Southwark which won Building for Life Silver award and a Housing Design Project Award respectively.
